Through Project Webfoot sponsors can adopt a class and provide it with a valuable education resource kit developed by professional educators.
The kit is packed with exciting, curriculum-based wetland education materials: a teachers guide of wetland activities, a Marsh Monsters sheet to help students identify wetland organisms, an activity book full of fun and educational activities for students, a wetland values poster and lesson plan booklet, official Project Webfoot certificates for the class and their sponsor, a video on wetland values and a waterfowl ID CD and booklet.
Each student receives a comprehensive wetland guidebook, a sheet of colourful wetland foodweb decals, enrollment in DUC’s youth membership program which includes a one-year subscription to Puddler magazine.
For information on the in-class kits contact Colette Cheverie at c_cheverie@ducks.ca or call (902) 667-8726.
We also offer quality education packages delivered by trained instructors anywhere in Nova Scotia from September to April.
The programs meet curriculum requirements and the students learn through creativity. The Department of Natural Resources has wildlife artifacts that will be used to increase learning. These learning sessions are like bringing the wild to you. We do not, however stress live animals by bringing them to the classroom.
We offer half-day programming (two hours) at $150 or full-day programming (four hours) at $200. These are restricted to single class-sized groups. We can make arrangements to cover two classes at a school in one day to share the cost.
For information about the classroom program contact Sue Penney at penneysl@gov.ns.ca or call (902) 758-7094.
